Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
I dont know just about anything about the topic, but would like to install consumption meter, engine check and outside temperature's to bordkomputer, but i pretty much lack the info how to continue.
Bordkomputers are on sale every now and then, but almost every time without wiring harness (= what is required anyway?) and i dont know where to get info about what features are on those (brake pad wear, windshield liquid warning etc)
Any ideas here?

you can install it easly, but to install all the features of the AC it is a big task.
first you have to distinguish the BC and the AC (auto check)
The BC shows you the consumption, running time, average speed etc....
the AC shows you faults and warnings.
Both are in the same box, but not all the BC have the AC with them, some have the MC (mini check)
the MC is what you have now in your car, 4 small signs...
To install the BC it is easy, because you just plug it in, connect the consumption signal (one wire), and everything works. yes, you need to install the control stick too, but it just plugs in.
i can provide the scematics...

Re: Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
first of all you should buy the BC, the stick, and the cables to connect the stick to the BC
then we will work on connecting it
you dont need part numbers, everything fit from all audi 80, b3 and b4, s2, rs2...

I see BC's all the time on Ebay - but wire harnesses are rare (and seemingly expensive).
Have to keep on looking..

What number ECU pin is the consumption signal?
And then consumption signal goes to pin number 10 in board computer?

the consumption signal does not go to the ECU, but to a black connector under the steering wheel.
i will find a picture...

Re: Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
this is the black connector, and you have only to find the yellow or yellow/green wire and connect it to the BC. if you have the wiring of the BC, you have the yellow wire there. just connect it, and everything works. all the other data needed is gathered from the instrument cluster.

Re: Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
I just bought an S2 instrument cluster to my compi (got it very cheap). Circuit board has a small crack on it, but it easily fixable. My main concern now is that it has different connectors, yellow and blue are same, but then there's wide white connector, while my compi has smaller. I have absolutely now idea if this cluster has Autocheck or not, I haven't studied these so deeply that I could say it from the look. Anyway, I don't need AC at all, but of course normal warning lights would be nice. So, any idea if I can easily fit this cluster to my compi?

Re: Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
as said, it is easy enough. your compi has a small white connector, because it doesent have all the autocheck functions. you only need to rewire the small connector to the large connector.
snap a pic of the BC, so we will see if it has the AC or the MC.

Hi,
Ok, so I need to find some wiring diagrams. I also need to check the odometer, seller said that it might not work (someone has tried to turn it back to have less kilometers...). Anyway, here's a few pics of cluster.

Ok, thanks! So now I just need to find some wiring diagrams how to wire the small connector to bigger one.
Edit: Oh yes, and I really don't need any autocheck functions, normal warning lights are enough for me, but of course if I can easily some extra information out of it, that would be cool. But wiring the whole AC to work is no go for me, at least in this point.

Re: Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
i have written to some forum member how to connect it to make it work, i cant remember in which topic it was...
Re: Installing better bordkomputer in Compi
you need to connect:
from pin -> to pin
3 -> 23
4 -> 17
7 -> 19
18 and 25 on ground
this is what you need to connect to have all the basic functions
