RS2 small red brake upgrade
The front compi brakes are not excellent, but there is way to upgrade the brake setup with a decent ammount of money.
The idea is to install the front RS2 brembo brakes. I have done it after the 5x112 conversion, but this conversion is not necessary!
The disk is 314x30, from an audi urs4, urs6 or a8, all with the HP2 brake setup.
The parts needed:
riginal rs2 304mm calipers + bracket = small reds
disk 314x30 - audi urs4 urs6 a8 with HP2 brake setup
longer brake hoses
spacers:
5mm spacer between the caliper and bracket (304mm -> 314mm disk)
5mm longer bolts - original bolts for the RS2 big reds (323mm)
2,5mm spacer between hub and caliper bracket because of the different ET of the disk
the 2,5mm spacers between hub and bracket:
Prices:
used calipers + brackets 300€ - 350€
disk 80 - 140€
pads 75€ - 130€
longer brake hoses - 25€
4 original RS2 323mm caliper bolts 16€
The only tweak to do is to redrill the disk from 5x112 to 4x108.
4 bolts will be ok, one bolt will cover with one for the 5x112 bolts. This is not a problem, since the bolts are not carrying the disk, but the pressure of the bolts pressing the wheel to the hub are holding the disk from turning around. The disks with only 5 holes are a must. The one with 5x100 and 5x112 are not good for this conversion.
The minimum wheel size for this setup is 16", but i have tested only the avus wheels. I will try the original comeptition wheels, and report back.
There is also no need to change the master brake cylinder, but the s2, s4 master cylinder is bolt on!
Left S2/S4 master cylinder, right compi master cylinder.
