At last I got some time to start the heater matrix change.. still need to put back the dash...


The old matrix was blown from the top, not only cracked, but there is also hole...

I've been waiting for the head gasket set now for a month... it was an factory order, but still...
Haven't found ABF of KR inlet cam yet neither...

a month?? damn that sux

why dont you buy some schrick cams?

Headgasket set should be in town on wednesday. Yesterday I took the head off. Looks like the gasket was leaking from cylinder #1, also the #1 piston was very clean on top, so it indicates also that some water has been leaking to cylinder. Weird that there was not any white smoke and the engine still sound very good.
Hopefully compi will be running again by the end of the week...

Dreaming on... no gasket set still, maybe tomorrow, it arrived to Finland yesterday...

Damn, cannot put it together then this week, going to Crete on Sunday for a week. Maybe after that...if the gaskets arrive.

i cant understand why is so difficult to get a gasket set, it is the same as some other vw engines, every shop should have them on stock...

Apparently, for ACE it is not very common set, or if it is.... I bet they have ordered me wrong set =)

the only issue with the ace engine is the valve cover gasket, because there are 2 types. all the rest is the same as the vw abf or 9a engine...

Ok, anyway I keep my fingers crossed that the set is correct if it ever arrive.

The gasket set arrived yesterday=) Too bad I cannot put it together now, today some 630km drive to Helsinki and tomorrow morning will fly to Crete with mrs, no kids this time=)

Ok, engine is back in one piece, next to change the waterpump... water still not circulating to the radiator, just barely even to heater... uuh, need some motivation from somewhere...

While waiting for motivation, I bought an -95 Audi A8, 4.2L quattro... very nice...

Now it works=) The waterpump was replaced yesterday, and that cured the problem.
